Violet Lane, Creaton Northampton, NN6 8NR, United Kingdom
The parish church in Great Creaton is at the heart of village life and enjoys wonderful support from the wider community. It plays a central role in traditional church and rural festivals throughout the year and is a much-valued setting for family occasions such as weddings, funerals, and baptisms.
Services are held on the first and third Sundays of each month at 9.30 am and are beautifully supported by our choir. Afterwards, there is often the chance to share fellowship and friendly conversation over refreshments.
While the main entrance has steps, we provide a portable ramp to ensure access for those who need it. The church also has an accessible toilet, and we endeavour to keep the building open during daylight hours so that everyone can enjoy a moment of peace and reflection.

Situated on a mound in the heart of this warm and friendly village, our humble parish church offers some surprisingly interesting features. Its first Rector was installed in 1226, but the fabric of the building is possibly slightly older than this date. Its features include medieval stonework – such as corbels, gargoyles and pinnacles – a Jacobean pulpit and altar rail (the latter in storage awaiting restoration), and a late 19th Century, Oxford Movement - inspired Chancel. The Chancel boasts a remarkable, elaborate Altar and Triptych which are unusual for a small village. The stained-glass windows are also worthy of note. There are information displays in the church which give more details, including a brief history of the damage caused by a Doodlebug (V1) flying bomb in 1944.
In the past couple of years extensive refurbishment has been done within the building. Including installing an accessible toilet and a servery, levelling the internal floors, installing a beautiful tower screen. In 2025 the pipe organ has been restored to its former glory.
If you value the role of St Michael's in our community, and wish to contribute to the ongoing mission and ministry, please consider contributing financially through the secure Parish Giving Scheme, which allows us to reclaim Gift Aid where applicable or by offering your time and skills as a volunteer. Every contribution, large or small, makes a real difference.
